PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an expanded picture from becoming unnatural on a reception side by substituting the error of control data controlling the compressed picture data amount of a picture signal with data generated by means of using plural pieces of other control data when it is detected. SOLUTION: The occurrence of the error during transmission is discriminated by an error correction circuit 205 in transmitted compressed picture data and that in which data the error occurs is sent to a microcomputer 206 as a data status. When the error is in the data status, the scaling factor value of compressed picture data immediately before of compressed picture data which is processed at present, for example, is selected to be used for the scaling factor value. The selected value does not completely match with the value where the error occurs. In the case of a moving picture obtained by taking a regular object, a possibility that an extreme change occurs is low as the picture between fields and a possibility that the scaling factor value similarly changes becomes low. Thus, the picture is prevented from being unnaturally reproduced even if an expansion processing is executed by using the value. |
