PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color filter having columnar projections of enough height to determine the thickness of a liquid crystal layer by forming plural columnar projections on a black matrix in such a manner that these projections are formed by laminating color layers of plural colors on a resist layer. SOLUTION: This color filter 1 consists of a substrate 2, a black matrix 3 formed on the substrate 2, and a color layer 7. The black matrix 3 is coated with a resist layer 5, and columnar projections 8 are formed on specified plural points of the resist layer 5. The columnar projection 8 consists of stacks of the resist layer 5 and color layers 8R, 8G, 8B. Thereby, the columnar projection 8 has enough height to control the thickness of a liquid crystal layer, so that when the color filter 1 is laminated with a TFT array substrate, the space for the liquid crystal layer between the color filter 1 and the TFT array substrate can be formed with high accuracy. |
