<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for cooling and cutting a strand which can easily put a chip into a predetermined shape in a short time. SOLUTION: In the device for controlling dimension of thermoplastic resin chip, a group of strands S consisting of molten thermoplastic resin are extruded from a die head 1 and caused to flow down over a flow chute 4 of a cooling guide device 3 together with cooling water so as to be cooled and solidified and thereafter the group of strands are cut into chips by a stationary cutter 28 and a rotary cutter 29 while they are being pulled down by a nip roll 27 in a cutting device 25. For manufacturing chips, data of diameter of strands and length of chips set by a setting device and data of diameter of strands measured by a diameter measuring device 38 and length of chips measured by a length measuring device are processed by a microcomputer to control each servomotor of the nip roll 27 and rotary cutter 29. If the shape of chips is changed, the chips can be easily put into a predetermined shape in a short time so that inferior chips are not produced in large quantities.</p> |
