The extension for the mattress of furniture that forms a chair or a bed is articulated on the free end of its frame (16). It has a transversal bar (27) which has the same width as the frame and whose ends are bent inwards. Two rods (33,35) are joined to the bar and are articulated on the frame. Longitudinal feet (29,31) are joined to the bar and are fixed to the rods. Their free ends have flat surfaces (41,43) that cooperate with the lateral outer wall (47) of the end bar of the frame and form stops.
