The invention concerns a probe for detecting faults in electrically conductive parts (1) comprising a row of transmitting (27) and receiving (28) windings forming a pattern of active windings. The receiving windings (28) are influenced by different electromagnetic fields derived from several neighbouring transmitting windings (27) at the same time, thus sensitizing them to different types of faults. The pattern of active windings is displaced along the row. These probes are generally used for inspecting steam generator tubes of nuclear plants.
