The elector has two circuits joined by male and female connectors separate to the tube (8). The piston (9) has a central rod (15) to the rear which enters a channel in the closed-off rear (14) of the tube which resides in one of the connectors. An abutment (16) in the form of a fuse acts on the rod and is melted by a series default current (CD) so that the piston can move under the action of the spring (11). The fuse may be take the form of a boss of solder on the rod, a cartridge of inflammable material, several turns of conductor wire wrapped around the rod within a mass of fuse material or other variations.
