Rail track points fault and rail vehicle detection system

The system includes a central unit (12) connected to both rails (14) of a main railway (Ip) and to signalling equipment which controls the points between the main railway and a secondary railway (Is). The signalling equipment includes conducting cables (10) which link electrically the main and the secondary rails. A number of devices (18) are provided to measure the electrical current through the connection cables and rails. The central unit includes a voltage generator (20) which delivers a signal (S). An emitter/receiver module (22) communicates with the current measuring devices.
