The complementary device provides an image of a road ahead a vehicle alongside an image of the road in a mirror to the driver. The image of the road ahead the vehicle is provided by a series of mirrors or by a camcorder. One flat mirror of a given size is used along with a second smaller flat mirror. The first mirror is directed to the front of the vehicle while the second mirror is turned to the back, that is to say towards the driver. The first mirror collects a forward image and projects it on the second mirror. The two mirrors are mounted so as to allow their adjustment by the driver.
