A microscope device (10) for surgical use has a microscope unit (110) and a support unit (120) for supporting the microscope unit (110). The microscope unit (110) photographs an operative site of a patient (330) on a surgical table (340) and outputs a video signal. The support unit (120) has a support column (290c). The support column (290c) pivotably supports a second arm (290b) about an axis (O5). The second arm (290b) pivotably supports the first arm (290a) about an axis (O4). The first arm (290a) supports the microscope unit (110). The second arm (290b) pivots about the axis (O5) while the first arm (290a) is held essentially horizontal, whereby the height of the microscope unit (110) can be modified. The length (V) of the second arm (290b) is greater than the length (H) of the first arm (290a), wherefore the movable range of the microscope unit (110) in the perpendicular direction is considerable. Accordingly, it is possible to accommodate surgery performed with a surgeon standing as well as surgery performed with a surgeon sitting. |
