PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fiber excellent in reinforcing effect and surface smoothness, and useful for reinforcing a plastic which is needed to have electric conductivity by using alumina whisker, etc., a heat resisting inorganic material, as an axial material and placing a titanium nitride layer on its surface. SOLUTION: A titanium nitride layer is formed on the surface of ceramic whisker of at least one kind selected from alumina, aluminum borate, silicon carbide and silicon nitride. It is preferable to form the titanium nitride layer with a method comprising a heat treatment of a titanium compound coated on the surface of the axial material in an atmosphere of nitrogen, etc. |
