<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microorganism carrier capable of not only reducing the generation amount of sludges but also increasing the adhesion amount of microorganisms and more efficiently biologically treating organic waste waters than by conventional methods, and to provide a method for purifying sewages, enabling to sufficiently carry out treatments ranged anaerobic treatments to aerobic treatments to reduce the generation amount of sludges, and suppress the generation of malodors. SOLUTION: This carrier for microorganisms is obtained by planting acrylic fibers and at least one kind of fibers selected from polyvinylidene chloride fibers, nylon fibers, polyethylene fibers, polypropylene fibers and carbon fibers on a substrate so as to form many U-shaped loops. This method for purifying sewages comprises subjecting the sewages to an aeration treatment using a treating tank filed with the microorganism carrier.</p> |
