PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the number of LEDs as a light source small and to increase the mechanical strength of a light emission surface for use as a surface light emission unit for a road surface while enabling uniform light emission over wide area. SOLUTION: On the internal bottom surface of a base chassis 1 formed in a flat shallow dish shape, a surface light emission body 2 is mounted in contact across a reflecting sheet 5 and this surface light emission body 2 is covered with a transparent cover 3 in contact across a diffusion sheet 6 and a filter sheet 7. An external force applied to the cover 3 can be received by the base chassis 1 through the contact part and the cover 3 and surface light emission body 2 are prevented from being broken to increase the surface strength. Further, a light guide plate 4 and an edge light structure having LEDs as the light source arranged at its end part is used, so uniform surface light emission can be actualized by a small number of LEDs to enable low-cost manufacture. |
