CASTER WHEEL SWIVEL LOCK AND METHOD OF LOCKING A CASTER WHEEL

A caster having a swivel lock mechanism wherein the caster includes a support member for mounting the caster assembly, a caster fork rotationally mounted to the support member and a wheel rotationally mounted to the caster fork . A lever is pivotally mounted to the support member above the caster fork and is fixed against rotation in the rotational plane of the caster fork. The lever includes a cavity adapted to engage the top of the caster fork and thereby prevent rotation of fork. The lever also includes wedge portions adjacent to the cavity to facilitate engagement of the locking mechanism when the caster fork is not aligned with the locking lever.
