<p>A strain which has an enhanced ability to produce ε-poly-L-lysine as compared with the conventional ε-poly-L-lysine-producing strains or improved varieties thereof, and is capable of elevating ε-poly-L-lysine productivity; and a process for producing a remarkable amount of ε-poly-L-lysine by using this strain which comprises mutagenizing a microorganism capable of producing ε-poly-L-lysine and belonging to the species Streptomyces albulus to thereby give a strain being tolerant to S-(2-aminoethyl)-L-cysteine at a high concentration of 10 mg/ml or above and capable of producing ε-poly-L-lysine, aerobically incubating this strain in a medium, and collecting the ε-poly-L-lysine from the culture.</p> |
