PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form conical part easily moldable through which exhaust gas flows and to form the conical part and a cylindrical part to hold a catalyst carrier easily weldable. SOLUTION: This catalyst converter 1 is formed so that a small cylindrical body 4 curbed in a cylindrical shape is expanded and a catalyst carrier 5 around which a seal mat 6 is wound is inserted therein, and by contracting the cylindrical body 4, the cylindrical body is adhered to the seal mat 6, and end parts are lap welded to hold the seal mat 6 and the catalyst carrier 5 the cylinder body 4. An outer flange 4a is formed at the large part of the cone part 4, and the flange 4a is brought into contact with the end part of the cylinder body 4 and outer corner parts are interconnected at a weld part 4b. Since the structures of the cylinder part 3 and the cone part 4 are simple, molding is easy, and since parts fitted in each other are not formed at two members, size precision is not needed to be high. |
