<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable retrieving accurately a tape position by switching selectively position information such as an absolute time recorded in a recording medium, a frame address, an address for error detection, rotation information of a capstan, and the like in accordance with recorded data. SOLUTION: When a data streamer device 21 relay-records or relay- reproduces data in/from a magnetic tape loaded in a mechanism section 35, the device 21 uses an absolute time recorded in a data region of a recording track as tape position information. When overlapped absolute time exist near a relay position, a system controller 25 uses a capstan FG count value and a frame address as position information, when a discontinuity part is caused in a frame address, the controller 25 uses a check sum of a main data region. Thus, a tape position at the time of reposition operation can be accurately detected by retrieving a tape position selecting position information in accordance with recorded data.</p> |
