PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To authenticate whether a user is truly an owner of a card by reading the user's fingerprint and collating it with the fingerprint data of a card owner which is preliminarily registered at a credit card management center online. SOLUTION: Data that is added to a credit card is sent to a credit card management center online when a clerk passes a credit card through a credit card reader having a fingerprint recognizing device at the time of paying merchandise with the credit card. The credit card management center searches fingerprint data which is registered in accordance with the credit card and sends it back to a device in a store online. Then, the fingerprint of the user of the credit card is taken by the device, and the fingerprint data is collated with the fingerprint data that is already registered. As a result of collation, the user of the credit card authenticates that he is the owner of the card in the case of coincidence. |
