PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a split mold device whose weight is reduced by decreasing the outer diameter of a tire mold when it is loaded into an autoclave. SOLUTION: In the method for operating the split mold device for tire vulcanization which comprises a top force part 22 and a bottom force part 25 for molding a tire lateral part, a tread mold part 11 divided in the circumferential direction for molding a tire tread part and an annular member 13, with an inwardly inclined face, which slides engaged with the outwardly inclined face of the tread mold part 11, an auxiliary annular member 30 with the extended face of the inwardly inclined face of the annular member 13 is temporarily assembled into the annular member 13 to make up for the sliding inclined face of the tread mold part 11. Further, during the operation to open/close the mold, the tread mold part 11 is moved between the annular member 13 and the auxiliary annular member 30 to realize the opening/closing operation of the split mold. |
