PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bleaching activator having a high beaching activation effect and not causing the damage of fibers and the decoloration of dyes by using a specific cobalt complex. SOLUTION: This bleaching activator comprises a cobalt (III) complex of the formula: [CoDm Xn ]<z> Yq [D is a ligand containing one or more nitrogen atoms as one or more coordinating atoms, preferably a bidentate ligand, such as ethylene diamine, o-phenanthroline, etc.; (m) is 1, 2, 3; X is a monodentate ligand; (n) is an integer of 0-4; (z) is a complex valency exhibiting the total electric charge of the cobalt and the ligand; Y is a counter ion; (q) is an integer satisfying the equation: (a)×(q)=-(z), when the valency of Y is (a)]. A bleaching detergent composition comprises (A) hydrogen peroxide and a peroxide generating the hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous solution, and (B) the bleaching activator. The content of the component B in the composition is preferably 0.0001-5.0 wt.%. The composition can exhibit an excellent bleaching activity effect also at low temperatures. |
