PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively obtain a fiber material that is useful for producing an ink-absorber of high performance with exclusion of influence of the finishing oil as a contaminant by contact treatment of fibers produced by melt-spinning a thermoplastic resin with an ethylene oxide-added glycol. SOLUTION: A thermoplastic resin at least one selected from polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene-propylene copolymer, poly(methylpentene) and ethylene- olefin copolymers are melt-spurn to produce a fiber material for a liquid- contacting member with an ink for ink jetting. At this time, the spun yarns in a plurality of cans 136 are taken out and brought into contact with a glycol to which ethylene oxide is added (as ethylene oxide adduct on 2,4,7,9- tetramethyl-5-decine-4,7-diol) using a spray 180 for their treatment to give the objective fiber material. In a preferred embodiment, this fiber material is used to produce the objective ink-absorber.
|
