PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring depth of a buried object by accurately detecting the position of the object buried in the underground such as a gas pipe and a water pipe, that is, position on the corresponding to the position of the object buried in the underground. SOLUTION: This detection system consists of a transmitting antenna coil 3, which is a movable means to generate electromagnetic wave and generates electromagnetic wave with directivity, and a receiving antenna coil, which is a movable means to recognize a signal output and can detect the electromagnetic wave with directivity generated from an information display 1. It is structured by a combination of a calibration curve found by measuring in advance a relation between a signal output value and a burying depth and the information display 1 or by a combination of at least two information displays 1.
