CLIENT/SERVER SYSTEM EXECUTING IMAGE PROCESSING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a client/server system by which real image data can be prevented from being missed while effectively utilizing the resources of the system. SOLUTION: A design terminal 2 executes layout processing while utilizing coarse image data 122 of a low resolution in a hard disk drive(HDD) 26 and transmits document information [page description language(PDL) data] to a server device 1. In that process, layout content information(LCI) is transmitted while containing a directory at the HDD 12 for these coarse image data 122 and the scheduled date and time of layout processing end. The server device 1 stores real image data 121 of a high resolution in a directory correlated with the coarse image data 122 in the HDD 26 and extracts the real image data 121 based on the directory and scheduled end date and time contained in the LCI transmitted from the design terminal 2. Besides, the exchange processing based on an open prepress interface(OPI) is executed on an arithmetic area 143 of the server device 1.
