<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the fast forwarding and unwinding operations of a tape in a short time by once reducing the tape speed around the tape end part in the case of the tape with thick hub, when the cassette tape is thin hub tape, and reducing the tape speed around the end part of the tape with thin hub after the forwarding and unwinding speeds are made again to the high speed. SOLUTION: Light emitting and receiving parts 23, 24 are disposed on the peripheral edge parts 13p, 14p of reel bases 13, 14 while respectively confronting therewith, and the sizes of the hub diameters are automatically discriminated during the fast forwarding and unwinding operations of the magnetic tape in accordance with the outputs of the light emitting and receiving parts 23, 24, then the control of the high speed tape forwarding is executed by a microcomputer 21. When the thin hub is used, the speed is changed over to the high speed FF/REW mode then reduced after the high speed mode is continued till the ratio of the number of rotation attains the threshold of the tape with thin hub. In the case of the tape with thick hub, on the other hand, the speed is similarly changed over then reduced after the high speed mode is continued till the ratio of the number of rotation attains the threshold of the tape with thick hub.</p> |
