<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based coating composition capable of converting a coating material for recoating a building exterior finish, a coating material for repairing automobiles and a coating material for plastics in which a solvent- based polyurethane coating material has hitherto been used into a water-based one and further applicable to wide fields such as a sealing agent, an adhesive, an ink, a coating material, a casting material, an elastomer, a foam or a plastic raw material or a textile finishing agent. SOLUTION: This water-based coating composition comprises an aqueous emulsion composed of a copolymer of 0.3-60 wt.% hydroxyl group-containing polymerizable vinyl monomer, 0.1-30 wt.% carboxylic group-containing polymerizable vinyl monomer, 0.1-30 wt.% (meth)acrylamide-based monomer, 0.1-30 wt.% glycidyl group-containing (meth)acrylic monomer and 10-99.4 wt.% other polymerizable vinyl monomers as a component (A) and a water-dispersible polyisocyanate composition prepared by introducing a nonionic hydrophilic group composed of 5-50 ethylene oxide recurring units into an aliphatic' and/or an alicyclic diisocyanate or a polyisocyanate compound obtained therefrom and further mixing an ionic surfactant therewith as a component (B).</p> |
