PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize a thin part of a spray flow of an absorbing solution sprayed by a spray type desulfurization apparatus. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with supply pipes 15 arranged in a plurality of rows in a horizontal direction at a plurality of stages in a vertical direction at specified intervals and a plurality of spray nozzles 16 provided on each of the supply pipes 15 at specified intervals along a longitudinal direction of the supply pipes 15 in such a manner that an absorbing solution 11 is diffused and sprayed toward waste gas through the respective nozzles 16 so as to bring spray diffusion flow into contact with the waste gas for effecting desulfurization of the waste gas. In this case, auxiliary spray nozzles 20 are provided on the supply pipes 15 for spraying the absorbing solution 11 toward thin part of spray flow formed by the spray diffusion flow from the respective spray nozzles 16.
