The coupling consists of a bracket on the side of a vertical scaffolding pole (1) which fits through a slot (13) in the end of a horizontal pole (2) which has its end blocked by a transverse plate (12). The transverse plate is connected to two parallel lengthwise plates which engage with a force fit in the end of the horizontal pipe, while a locking member (46) between the lengthwise plates engages with a wedging key (14) inserted between the bracket, locking member and lengthwise plates.
