PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension adjusting device capable of easily and rapidly performing a cable tension adjusting operation. SOLUTION: Based on a tension of a parking brake cable 44, a cable tension is adjusted to a specified value by merely drivingly rotating a second nut member 58 until a torsional coil spring 56 is started to slip after a rotating resistance acting on a first nut member 54 becomes lager than it frictional force with the torsional coil spring 56. Also, the second nut member 58 is screwed onto an adjust bolt 46 and functions also as a lock nut and, even after the first nut member 54 is stopped to rotate due to a slip of the torsional coil spring 56, it is screwed onto the adjust bolt 46 until it is brought into contact with the first nut member 54. Because the first nut member 54 is fixed to the adjust bolt 46, such a trouble that the screwed amount of the first nut member 54 onto the adjust bolt 46 is varied by a vibration caused while a vehicle is running and a cable tension is varied is eliminated. |
