PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a private branch exchange which converts voice data into voice packets, and vice versa. SOLUTION: When a private branch exchange receives voice data, an analog telephone accommodating device 102 successively stores the voice data in a first-in-first-out(FIFO) memory 104 in the unit of four bytes after multiplexing the voice data in the unit of four bytes. Then, after a first functional block 111 successively reads out the voice data from the memory 104 and assembles a voice data field by using the voice data belonging the same channel, a second functional block 112 obtains a voice packet for reception by adding a header field to the voice data field. When the exchange transmits voice data, on the other hand, a fourth functional block 114 successively writes the voice data of a voice packet in the FIFO memory 105 in the unit of four bytes in accordance with channel numbers after a third functional block 113 removes a header field front the voice packet. In addition, the analog telephone accommodating device 102 dentultiplexes the voice data in the FIFO memory 105. |
