<p>A fastening system (10) for releasably attaching at least one article (6) to an object (8). The system includes a fastener having a resiliently deformable body portion (10) which is resiliently bendable about a bend axis and at least two leg portions (12) which depend from the body portion on opposite sides of the bend axis. The leg portions (12) are oriented at an angle relative to a line perpendicular to the body portion (10) and each have a tip shaped for insertion through the article and into the object. The body portion is resiliently deformable to an installation orientation in which the leg portions (12) are substantially parallel by bending the body portion relative to the bend axis. The leg portions at least partially return to the initial orientation to engage the surface and secure the article to the surface. The system also includes the method of providing a fastener, resiliently deforming the body portion (10) of the fastener to move the leg portions (12) from the first orientation to a second, substantially parallel orientation, inserting the parallel leg portions into the object with at least one of the leg portions passing through the article and into the object, and releasing the body portion to at least partially return the leg portions to the first orientation to thereby mount the fastener and the article to the object.</p> |
