Disclosed is a low molecular mass, interference/codominance (IC) reagent comprising at least a first, second and third binding moieties. The first, second and third binding moieties are characterized by the ability to bind specifically to distinct macromolecular targets. The binding of the first and/or second binding moieties to their respective macromolecular targets is further characterized as codominant in their ability to preclude the binding of the third binding moiety to the macromolecular target for which it exhibits specificity. Also disclosed is a small molecule antiinhibitor compound comprising a first binding moiety that binds to an enzyme in the vicinity of the active site but does not perturb the catalytic activity of the enzyme but interferes with the binding of an inhibitor to the active site and a second binding moiety which binds to a macromolecular target. Also disclosed are therapeutic methods in which the IC reagent is administered, alone or in combination with the antiinhibitor compound, to an individual.
|
