PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring out the performance of both kinds of thermoelectric elements to most while no new factors for degradation in structural performance occurs, even when there is a difference between a P-type thermoelectric element and Ntype thermoelectric element in electric and thermal characteristics. SOLUTION: Respective upper and lower electrode surfaces of a P-type thermoelectric element 1p and an N-type thermoelectric element 1n are connected to an electrode 4, while the P-type thermoelectric element 1p and the N-type thermoelectric element 1n are provided between substrates 3 and 3 facing vertically. The cross-section area ratio of the P-type and Ntype thermoelectric elements which are cut along a plain parallel to the electrode surface is so set that a product of average values of electric resistance and heat conductivity of the P-type and N-type thermoelectric elements is near minimum. By adjusting difference in electrical and thermal characteristics between the P-type and N-type thermoelectric elements using a cross-section area, the lengths of both kinds of thermoelectric elements come to be identical. |
