PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the visibility of the liquid crystal display with a white- based background color by making whitish the light shield film provided between color pixels of the liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: On a glass substrate 11, the light shield film 20 is provided among the pixels of a red-colored layer 13, a green-colored layer 14, and a blue-colored layer 15 and on the colored layers, a transparent protective film 16 and a transparent electrode film 17 for driving liquid crystal are provided. The light shield film 20 is formed of radiation-setting or thermosetting resin having, for example white pigment such as titanium oxide and zinc oxide dispersed. Consequently, the light shield film 20 is never seen as a matrix-shaped grating even on a display having a white-based background and the visibility can be improved. The light shield film 20 reflects external light so as to protect TFTs for liquid crystal driving from the external light, but when regularly reflected light impinges the eye, the visibility is decreased, so diffuse reflection is caused on the top surface of the light shield film 20. |
