PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a liquid crystal display device reduced in the loss of incident light and light in the utilization rate of light. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device A is constituted by providing a 1st substrate 13 which is positioned on the incidence side of external light, a 2nd substrate 1 which is joined opposite the 1st substrate 13 across given gap, and an electroopic substance held in the gap and forming lenses 21 for every pixels on the incidence side of the external light. This manufacturing method includes a process for forming the 1st substrate 1 having thin film transistors Q, a process for joining the 2nd substrate 13 to the 1st substrate 1 across the given gap, and a process for charging the electro-optic materials 16 in the gap, and lenses 21 consisting of transparent materials or lenses 21 consisting of the same material as the 2nd substrate 13 are formed on the 2nd substrate 13 on the opposite side from the gap 16. |
