PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly and easily detect the generation of buckling at the time of side surface collision by connecting a lead wire for leading out the stress exciting polarization current to be generated by the buckling of a preceding buckling part as a starting current for a side air bag device to a front and a rear ends of an impact beam. SOLUTION: An electrode 10 is formed of a socket 16 having a square opening part 16a directed downward and bonded to a closed end surface 15 and a rectangular plug 17 connected to a lead wire 18 and to be engaged with the opening part 16a freely to be removed. The lead wire 18 is connected to an amplifier provided in front of a starting means for igniting an inflator of a side air bag device fitted to a sheet back of a front seat 17. At the time of installing the side air bag device in a vehicle, the plug 17 connected to the lead wire 18 is installed in the socket 16. When a preceding buckling part 13 is buckled at the time of side surface collision, the stress exciting polarization current is supplied to the amplifier, and the starting means is operated so as to cause the expansion of the side air bag device. |
