PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sensitivity for detecting ionization by increasing the ratio of the molecule of a sample constituent being contained in a gas jet. SOLUTION: A gas holder 1 with inlet and outlet valves 2 and 3 is provided in a sample gas channel 10. A sample gas is once stored into the gas holder 1 by moving a piston 4, and the sample gas is sent to a nozzle 12 with great force. The molecule of a sample constituent flying out of a gas emission port 12a that is placed at the tip of the nozzle 12 and has a minute diameter is accelerated to an supersonic region for reaching an emitter 14 and is ionized by the operation of surface separation, thus obtaining the supersonic free jet of the sample gas without the help of an auxiliary gas, increasing the ratio of the molecule of the sample constituent being contained in a gas, and hence improving the detection sensitivity of an ion. |
