摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new strain of bacterium which was deposited with an accession number of CBS 106467, is a new mutant of Rhodobacter sphaeroides strain RV which can not accumulate polyhydroxyalkanoates, and has increased yield of production of hydrogen by light. SOLUTION: This is a new strain of bacterium which was deposited with an accession number of CBS 106467, is a new mutant of Rhodobacter sphaeroides strain RV which can not accumulate polyhydroxyalkanoates, and has increased yield of production of hydrogen by light, and is useful, for example, for efficient production of hydrogen. This new mutant is obtained by extracting genomic DNA from R. sphaeroides strain RV, isolating a bacterial synthase gene by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) using oligonucleotides synthesized based on the amino acid sequence of the bacterial synthase as primers, inactivating the gene, for example, by the random mutation induction, incorporating the obtained gene into a vector, introducing the obtained vector into R. sphaeroides strain RV to transform, followed by restriction analyzing the obtained colonies to select mutants.
