PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car navigation system with which operation can be simplified by reducing the number of times of moving switch operation by speedily knowing a menu on the next stage of an expanded menu without expanding the menu on the next stage. SOLUTION: Concerning the car navigation system for expanding the low- order menu like selecting the second menu out of the first menu and next selecting the third menu out of the second menu, this system has a sub menu expanding means for expanding an (n+2)th menu (n) is a natural number >=1} corresponding to the selected item in an (n+1)th menu when the (n+1)th menu is expanded while the selected item in an n-th menu is displayed on a screen.
