PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new DNA which has a specific base sequence, relates to the circadian rhythm which allows life activity without external information concerning time, and is effective, for example, for elucidation of the circadian rhythm, and regulation of abnormal circadian rhythm. SOLUTION: This is a new DNA which is designated Per3, has a base sequence from 287(A) to 3835(T) shown by the formula, and relates to the circadian rhythm which allows life activity by an endogenous cycle even in the absence of external information concerning time. A protein which is encoded by the DNA, and an antibody which recognizes the protein are useful for elucidation of the circadian rhythm in mouse, and regulation of abnormal circadian rhythm. This DNA is obtained by screening a cDNA library prepared using human subthalamic marathon cDNA, using primers having a partial sequence of mouse Per3 gene. |
