PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wavelength selecting element with low loss and the optical device which uses it, has low loss, and is easily assembled. SOLUTION: This wavelength selecting element has a dielectric multilayered thin film by laminating a dielectric thin film with a refractive index nH and a dielectric thin film with a refractive index nL alternately on its substrate surface. The thin-film structure is represented as A=[(HL)MsH(LH)M]NW or B=[(LH)MsL(HL)M]NW. Here, A and B are each dielectric multilayered thin films,λC is designed wavelength, H is dielectric thin-film thicknessλC/4nH, L is dielectric thin-film thicknessλC/4nL, M is the laminating repetition frequencies of both the thin films, N is the further repetition frequency of M, W(=th,tL) is an added layer, M, N, and (s) are each positive integers, and (t) is set 0.1 to 0.9. |
