PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the card reader which exhibits availability exceeding that of a conventional card reader from the view point of the reduction of the possibility of illegal operation on a self-service terminal with respect to a card reader used for the self-service terminal. SOLUTION: The card reader 12 is equipped with a card receiving means 14 which receives a card carrying saved data to be read out and a card reading means 12 which reads the saved data out, constituted so that the card received by the card receiving means 14 is carried to the card reading means 12 through a conveyance path, and equipped with a signal source which provides an output signal covering the overall width of the said path and a detecting means which is so constituted as to receive the said output signal and useful in detecting the presence of a body in the path according to the signal and an interfering body. |
