Goods (8) inside an open container (4) are compacted by moving a compaction roll (7) backwards and forwards, the roll being mounted on the bottom of a scissor joint support (9) entering the container through its open top side (4A). The roll can be swung about a horizontal pivot axle (11) in the support, swing movement being restricted relative to support and the connecting part (16) linking the roll to the support during movement of the roll along the container by moving the support along the track above it. |
