PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a single stop rail having a damper stop function and a sostenuto function by maintaining the position of an under-lever assembly in such a manner that a string damper is parted from a corresponding piano string. SOLUTION: The stop rail 100 has a damper stopper 102. This damper stopper 102 stops the upward movement of the under-lever 17 when the stop felt of the under-lever comes into contact with the damper stopper 102. A sostenuto latch blade 106 disposed at the stop rail 100 is actuated by a sostenuto pedal 52 to restrain the damper 11 at its rising position. A latch is mounted at a latch mounting part so as to be made movable between a non-latch stop position and a latch stop position. The latch maintains the position of the under-lever assembly in such a manner that the latch engages the latch surface, that the under-lever arm is parted from its halt position and that the string damper is parted from the corresponding piano string when the latch exists in its halt position.
