The reservoir section (1) has a tapered exit connection (13) leading from its top side, in which are located one or more axial ventilators for sucking the air from the shed through and out of the scrubber installation. An installation for scrubbing ammonia-containing air from a cow shed or the like, comprises a reservoir with an air distribution section (8) containing at least one side connection (3) for one or more feed pipes from the shed. Above the air distribution section is an absorption section (7), above which is a spray section (9), followed by a drip collection section (11) and an air discharge section (15). The spray section can be connected to a supply (19) of scrubber liquid, so that air from the shed flows up through the absorption section and passes through the spray section where it encounters a downwards counter-flow of liquid before leaving the installation. A collection section (5) for the ammonium salt-containing liquid is located beneath the absorption section, and the collected liquid is treated in a further system to recover scrubber liquid for re-use. A tapered exit connection leads from the top side of the reservoir, preferably from a vertical reservoir side wall, and one or more axial ventilators are located in this exit, preferably at the opposite end to the reservoir, which are used to suck the air from the shed through and out of the installation.
