PURPOSE: A video signal processing circuit is provided to vary the number of lines by a simple structure of a low cost easily while conducting a signal format conversion by a real-time fashion. CONSTITUTION: In the video signal processing circuit, a signal of 4:2:2 format is supplied to a linear interpolation. An input luminance signal and an input color difference signal of a line are recorded in a line memory, and then an input luminance signal and an input color difference signal of another line are recorded in another line memory. Similarly, signals are recorded in turn. The input luminance signal is twice read from the memory at a period of recording a signal of a line. The obtained signals are multiplied by a coefficient for the linear interpolation respectively so that the signal generates a brightness signal to be outputted and added. When twice reading the input luminance signal, the input color difference signal is once read from the memory and then is multiplied by each coefficient so that the signal generates a color differential signal to be outputted and added. A setting of a record/read control and coefficient of the signal together with the memory is performed by the interpolation control unit.
