PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generator functioning as a motor in combination for starting an internal combustion engine, capable of being applied also to the internal combustion engine ignited by an ignition device driven at a single-phase AC voltage. SOLUTION: The main body of this generator is composed of a magnet rotor 102 installed to the output shaft of the internal combustion engine, and a stator 103 on which three-phase connected armature coils W1-W18 and ignition- device drive coils We1, We2 which drive an ignition device for the internal combustion engine are mounted. The generator is operated as a motor by flowing a drive current through the three-phase armature coils through an inverter circuit from a DC power supply at the time of the starting of the internal combustion engine, and the internal combustion engine is started. The places for the changeover of the excitation phase of the armature coils, when the generator is worked as the motor, are set so as to maximize voltage induced in the ignition-device drive coils at the time of the starting of the internal combustion engine. |
