PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a comical competing type race game of a relay method, wherein the running speeds of characters change in response to the personalities of the characters and topographic changes on a race course. SOLUTION: One team is formed by a plurality of characters of different personalities, and the team competes with an enemy team by a relay method on a race course which is constituted by connecting topographic types of different kinds for this competing type race game, and for such a competing type race game, all topographic suitability data strings 7 which are set for respective characters in the team in advance, are loaded on a storage memory 3, and a value corresponding with a present topographic type is read from the storage memory 3 from a data range regarding a character which is selected at the present time, from among the loaded topographic suitability data strings 7, and by taking this value under consideration, a final running speed of an applicable character is calculated, and the character is made to run. Also, a player can freely exchange runner characters in response to a race status. |
