PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a toner which does not produce image defects even when the toner is stored for a long time in contact with a photoreceptor in a high temp. and high humidity environment, and to obtain a toner resin and an image forming method. SOLUTION: This toner used for electrophotographic development consists of a resin and additives. When 100 g of the component resin of the toner is put in 100 g of a methanol aq. soln. consisting of 90 wt.% water and 10 wt.% methanol, boiled for 10 min and then allowed to stand, the concn. of phenol compds. in the soln. has to stay <=10 ppm. The phenol compd. is a bis-phenol A.
