<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible connector that connects component elements by a non-rigid method and is capable of absorbing tension, compression, bending force, and vibration without allowing these forces to be transmitted from one exhaust system element to another. SOLUTION: This device cuts off vibration between a first and a second component element of an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. A flexible connector device 10 is installed to connect the first component element to the second component element of the exhaust system. This flexible connector device 10 may include an elastic, flexible sealing member (bellows 34) that absorbs relative movements between the first and second component elements. The flexible connector device 10 includes a vibration damping member of a ring shape that connects a downpipe to a mounting member and permits restricted movements of the downpipe in the axial, crosswise, and angular direction with respect to the mounting member. It may be installed on an exhaust manifold. This device also includes a sealing structure that permits non-welding connection of a bellows with no gaskets involved.</p> |
