<p>A vane type vacuum pump for automobiles, capable of reducing the weight thereof, preventing the occurrence of abnormal wear between shafts and reducing the manufacturing cost to a low level, having a cylindrical housing having suction and discharge ports, a rotor held eccentrically in the housing, a shaft for driving the rotor, and vanes rotated as they slidingly contact an inner circumferential surface of the housing by the rotation of the rotor, a fluid being sent under pressure from the suction port to the discharge port, characterized in that projections or recesses are provided on or in an outer circumferential portion of the shaft to combine the shaft and rotor fixedly into a unitary body by insert molding, the rotor being able to be formed by aluminum die casting, plastic molding and metal firing, the projections or recesses on or in the outer circumferential portion of the shaft being formed as parts integral therewith during the cold forging of the shaft or during the manufacturing of the shaft by firing, or as sheet metal-molded parts fixed to the outer circumferential portion of the shaft by welding, this vacuum pump enabling the housing and rotor to be formed out of the same kind of material.</p> |
