<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optionally set the spin characteristic without having an influence on center of gravity and total weight by providing a plurality of grooves on a face part with the groove depth being gradually changed according to the position of the face part. SOLUTION: A plurality of grooves 6 extending in the toe-heel direction of a golf club head 1 is provided on the face surface 2a of a face part 2 to form a score line. The score line may be extended along the face surface 2a or have an interrupting design including dimples. The depth of the groove 6 is set so as to gradually increase from the head upper part to the lower part, whereby the rigidity of the face part 2 is gradually reduced from the head upper part to the lower part. A ball driven by the head upper part has a reduced gear effect and a small backspin quantity, while a ball driven by the lower part has an increased gear effect and a large backspin quantity. Accordingly, this golf club head is suitable for a golfer having a low head speed or for the golf in a rainy day.</p> |
